After getting home, dividing the treasure (and some of the candy), introducing your new friends to your family, and being gifted the chest to go with your new college fund, you collapse into bed, tired, completely exhausted in fact, and ready for a well-deserved sleep.

But before you drift off into a blissful existence full of comfort and security, you reflect on the day.
Yes, you escaped from that old house. Yes, you got your candy bag back. Yes, you got the treasure! But you received something more important than any treasure from that chest. You rescued two people from perpetual doom. You were rescued yourself.

Your eyelids open and start to fall back down like warm blankets. You reflect on the value of living itself: how the real treasure you received was far greater than any money; far more meaningful. You settle in your sheets, and fall asleep, as the full moon disappears behind clouds, and the dark October night drifts into a calm November breeze.
